Learning To Blend Like Desiree

How to learn Desiree's blending method, what the Art Of Blending workshop covers, and which resources to start with.

Written by Liezl Marin

Desiree blends through a Chinese Medicine lens rather than a Western herbology one, which is why her recipes call for the oils they do and why she does not recommend essential oil substitutions.

If you want to learn the method and build your own blends, there are two things she recommends, and they work best together.

The Art Of Blending Workshop

Art Of Blending Online Workshop, $99, recorded, with instant and lifetime access.

This is where Desiree teaches the whole framework: Five Element theory, the organs and the emotions attached to them, the flavors and temperatures of oils, how essential oils combine, and how a formula is actually structured.

You are not making blends during the workshop. You are learning the principles you will use afterwards, so a notebook and a pen are all you need.

You also receive a PDF reference listing every essential oil with its temperature, its flavors, and the organs it enters.

Because it is recorded, you can rewatch it as many times as you like, and Desiree recommends doing exactly that. There is a lot in it and it takes more than one pass.

Elements Of Emotion

The book is the written companion to the workshop, and the reference you will reach for once you start blending on your own.

Available in print or as an ebook: our store for print, or as an instant download.

Why Both

The workshop teaches you the thinking. The book give you a resource to look things up in when you are standing over your essential oils six months later.

People who take one without the other tend to come back for the second.

What The Workshop Does Not Cover

Desiree does not diagnose in the workshop, and she does not answer questions about specific conditions or what to use for a particular diagnosis. That belongs in a 1:1 session.

Before You Start

You will need your oils. Desiree uses doTERRA exclusively, and the method assumes those oils.
